who AM I

Mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, stylist, educator, salon owner, Inspirational speaker, and B.O.S.S. (Beyond Obstacles Striving for Success), are all roles that describe me best, but most of all I am Jessica Renee.  The evolution of myself  has been a journey that has truly shown me who I am.  The paths that I have taken through this journey has enabled me to define who I truly am in each individual role that God has blessed me with.  I invite you to follow me along my journey as I continue to evolve into the person I was destined to be.

In October of 2001, I decided to leave Midlands Technical College mid semester and begin my journey as a cosmetology student at Kenneth Shuler in Columbia, SC.  I was excited about this journey, yet nervous.  I was going against what people thought  I should be doing and going against my Dad who said that I was better and smarter than that.  This was the first time that I made a decision to do what was best for me and the so the journey began.

Cosmetology school was a joy and a pain all at the same time, but I must say and I am glad that I don't have to do it again , lol, but good things come to those who are persistent and keep the ending goal in mind.  The trials were, and are,  just as valuable as the joys. There were many learning lessons and occurrences that would contribute to my character and to my future in this hair industry.  In December of 2002 I completed all 1500 required hours and received my diploma.  I immediately applied to go to boards, passed, and began my journey as licensed Cosmetologist in January of 2003.

I have always been a family oriented person and knew that I wanted to be married and have children. I tied the knot with my high school sweetheart three years later and became someone's wife.  Shortly after the children came. Not one,  not two, but three children gave me a new title and I became a mother.  My family became my one and only  priority and my world and I dedicated all of myself to them.  Of course, something had to take a back burner and it was me and my career.  During this time I was the owner of two salons, (not at the same time) been evicted out of one of the salons I owned, and then finally sold the last salon and decided to take a seat and give it all up, but that wasn't in God's plan.  

I couldn't let the industry that I had loved so much keep evolving without me and there was a strong urge (vision from God) to get back into the industry and start to recover what had been taken from me.  Blush Salon was established and opened in 2016 and has been going strong and hard every since. That brings us to present day, and Jessica Renee the International Educator, Mentor, Platform Stylist, Inspirational speaker and B.O.S.S emerges and begins her journey.  I have come full circle and went from being a shy girl who always hid their light, to a Woman who is bold and is allowing her light to shine wherever she is,  in a humble way.  When God gives you a vision, see it, plan it, and execute it or it will move on to the next person who is open and willing to take it! This is not the end of who I am just waiting to write the next chapter.
